The Willamette Lowland basin-fill aquifer is 31, km 2, 12, square mile aquifer underlying the region of Oregon and parts of Washington (state) between the Oregon Coast Range and the Cascade Range. The aquifer shares a name with the local river, the Willamette River, originating from a Clackamas Chinook word. Throughout history, societies have sought to regulate water resources. Today, over three-fourths of the largest river ecosystems in the northern third of the earth are strongly or moderately fragmented by dams, interbasin diversions, and irrigation (Dynesius and Nilsson, ). RESTORING RARE NATIVE HABITATS IN THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY A Landowner’s Guide for Restoring Oak Woodlands, Wetlands, Prairies, and Bottomland Hardwood and Riparian Forests. By Bruce H. Campbell By. These data will include ground water levels, surface water flows, and water quality as well as data on hydraulic fracturing operations, such as the location of wells and the recorded water used during fracturing. EPA has chosen potential study areas that represent both arid Garfield County/Piceance Basin in Colorado, and (4) the Susquehanna.

Groundwater in California is very precious, yet what we can withdraw is often contaminated with natural and anthropogenic pollution sources. We have examined the Borrego Valley (BV) groundwater (N = 6 wells) in southern California to understand the source of arsenic and nitrate in some of its groundwater production wells.

The results show that the arsenic values range from Cited by: 2. A 'read' is counted each time someone views a publication summary (such as the title, abstract, and list of authors), clicks on a figure, or views or downloads the full-text.

The Tualatin basin, west of Portland (Oregon, USA), is one of several structural basins within the Puget-Willamette lowland, a km-long structural and topographic trough between the Coast Range and Cascade volcanic arc ().The Puget-Willamette lowland is seismically active and home to most of the Oregon and Washington State populations and major by: 2.

Ground water/surface water interactions can be measured at a variety of scales, but it has proven difficult to relate small-scale ground water/surface water interactions to basin-scale effects. Recently, Harvey and Fuller () were able to extrapolate small-scale (sediment-grain scale through stream-reach scale) hyporheic data to basin-scale Cited by: The solutions consider non- zero background sources, nonpoint source in- puts, and eutrophication problems.

The second example problem is based on a study of the Wil- lamette River basin in Oregon. The Willamette River example highlights the use of the QUAL2E model in. chemistry. Usually the water chemistry is a function of groundwater flow paths and the quantity of the groundwater discharging into a wetland (e.g., Almendinger and Leete, b).

Thus, the hydrologic regime indicators suggested earlier usually are adequate to monitor alterations to these water chemistry conditions.
